Russia: Vladimir Putin signs law criminalizing denial of Nazi war crimes
Russian President Vladimir Putin, signed today the introduction of
tough new penalties for legislation that justify or deny the Nazi war
crimes.

The legislation makes it a crime to deny facts established by the
Nuremberg trials for crimes of the Axis powers and spreading "false
information about Soviet actions" during World War II.
Such acts are punishable by up to five years in prison or fines of 500,000 rubles (about 10,000 euros), the new law.
Those who gave these statements in the media will face more severe punishment.
The legislation was passed by the last high and low chambers of the Russian parliament month and comes at a time when Russia is becoming more explicit comparisons between Ukrainian nationalists and Nazi war criminals.
Moscow regularly accuses the authorities of Kiev to be supporters of Stepan Bandera, a nationalist leader of the second time collaborated with the Nazi war.
The pro-Kremlin deputy Leonid Slutsky compared fighting in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, last week, after having completed at least 42 deaths among the demonstrators pro-Russian and pro-separatist Kiev with the extermination camp at Auschwitz.
